Who We Are
The K9 was built by dog people, for dog people. Not marketers, not content farms — just a team of genuine dog lovers who got tired of finding the same recycled advice everywhere they looked online. Every article on this site comes from real experience, real mistakes, and a real passion for getting it right.
Christian — Founder & Lead Writer
Christian has been surrounded by dogs his entire life, growing up on a farm where the pack ranged from scrappy Jack Russells to towering Irish Wolfhounds. That early education — learning to read a dog’s temperament before he could drive a car — shaped everything. Since then he’s trained dozens of dogs in recall and obedience, and spent time working alongside shelters helping rehome and rehabilitate dogs that most people had written off. He started The K9 because good dog information shouldn’t be hard to find.
Meet the Team
Janet Rudby — Dog Trainer
Janet has been working with dogs for over 12 years, starting out as a volunteer at her local rescue centre before training as a behavioural handler. She shares her home with two ridiculously stubborn Beagles named Frank and Dolly, who she describes as “her best work and her biggest failure at the same time.” Janet’s speciality is recall training — mostly because she’s had so much practice chasing Frank across fields.
Amanda Legg — Rescue Volunteer & Lifelong Dog Lover
Amanda grew up with dogs underfoot her entire life and hasn’t been without one since. She’s been volunteering at her local shelter for six years, having fostered over 30 dogs and re homed many more — and only accidentally kept five of them. She writes about adoption, dog behaviour, and the beautiful chaos of sharing your sofa with a pack of dogs who where “supposed to be temporary.” Currently also working with horses in Spain.
Poppy Boo — Dog Owner & Enthusiast
Poppy got her first dog — a hyperactive French bulldog called pasty — five years ago and has been obsessively researching everything about dogs ever since. She’ll happily corner you at a party to talk about gut health in dogs or why she thinks retractable leads should be banned. Not a professional, just genuinely passionate, and refreshingly honest about the things she got completely wrong as a first-time dog owner.

We don’t have a corporate agenda. We’re not sponsored by pet food brands to push their products (if we review something, we say exactly what we think). Every piece of advice on this site is something we’d genuinely give to a friend standing in front of us with a confused dog and no idea what to do next.
